Tae Bo is a form of exercise. It was invented by Billy Blanks who has been the world champion in karate seven times. Billy Blanks was born in Pennsylvania. He was trained in Tae Kwon Do and Karate. This is an interesting and intensive form of exercise which he devised by combining music with workouts.

Tae Bo and its origin

 

Billy Blanks was not convinced with the traditional form of exercises. He wanted to add more to the same and enhance the positive aspects of workout to benefit people. So he devised an entirely new form which came as a fusion of various forms of exercises put into one. It is a form of cardiovascular exercise which is a mixture of dance, music, martial arts, yoga, kickboxing and even aerobics. This form of workout became very popular in 1980's as a very interesting form of exercise.

Major areas where Tae Bo concentrated were stretching, self defense, martial arts, constant movement to build and tone muscles, increases flexibility, lose calories and hence weight. It attracted many people most of them being women. This was one of its first kinds of exercise which interested people. They really found it exciting as it was not boring like the other traditional form of exercises.

Tae Bo strategy was to sweat all calories out. Billy Blanks believed that more and more calories can be burnt by working out and stressing the body physically. People had a lot of fun as it included music and therefore many people used to be actually glued to this form of workouts. Researches say that Tae Bo shows expected results in few weeks time only.

Since it involves constant movement and stretching a lot of body endurance is required. So for the beginners it is slow and is not rigorous. It keeps the body flexible and keeps the person energized. It drives away lethargy from people and provides them a very active lifestyle. It increases the heartbeat rate which in turn increased the metabolism of the body.
